Gentse Spruiten VZW believes it is very important that every family in Ghent has a support network. That's why we pay extra attention to parents who experience a reduction in their social network at the birth of their child (ren). Our first question is simple "Do you have a child (ren)" If so, then you are welcome, regardless of your income, origin or parenting style. Because our VZW is open to all parents, our network is benefits is very diversity. We see our global image as an added value within the diverse city that Ghent is. With our events and activities we attract (grand)parents who are very open, warm and socially sensitive, where parents can support each other in different areas. We organize, among other things, playdates and coffee (or tea) mornings. We also manage a Facebook discussion forum to exchange information and tips. We would love to meet you!
Gentse Spruiten began in January 2016 as a Facebook group of families based in Ghent. In 3 years our membership has grown from 85 to no less than 1200 members. We organise weekly coffee and playdates with parents and their children, as well as monthly activities and parties. Through Gentse Spruiten, it is possible for moms and dads to meet and to ask questions and discuss concerns they may have as parents. We also have several sub-groups including a Marketplace to buy and sell, and to promote local businesses and child-friendly initiatives.

Gentse Spruiten makes the world a little smaller.

Gentse Spruiten reaches a very diverse group of families: single parents, underprivileged families, foreign students, Belgian families, migrants and expats. We welcome new families to Ghent and embrace the cultural diversity of our city. Through Gentse Spruiten parents can engage in new relationships in a relaxed and safe environment.
